Using Microsoft Access to manage the database

Modifying the database by means of the OnLAN Server interface is preferable, due to the fact that this method leaves little room for error. However, OnLAN Messenger service also supports a less safe method of modifying the database file usersdb.mdb directly from Microsoft Access.

Firstly, you need to stop executing the current database, in order to use this method. To do this, select "General" -> "Stop database execution" in the "OnLAN Server" window (pic #3). Once you're done modifying the database, you need to re-establish database execution by choosing "General" -> "Start database execution" in the "OnLAN Server" window. After that, you need to send the refreshed contact list to the clients. Select "Users -> Send contact list to all" in the "OnLAN Server" window, in order to do this.

If the changes that you're planning to make do not create or delete any existing records, only modify existing ones, then you can carry them out without pausing the database execution. This way, you will have to manually form the new contact list and send it to all active clients. To do this, select "Users -> Reload user list" in the "OnLAN Server" window, and then press "Send contact list to all".
