Testing the server

If the client fails to contact the server during the login process, it will send a message to the monitor. After this the monitor will test the server. This involves sending a special message which the server must reply to. In case the server fails to reply, the monitor will perform a restart of the OnLAN Server service. A restarted server will send requests to all clients, in order to collect any information about their possible change of status in the time that the server was down, while informing the clients about its own restoration.

The test information can be stored in the event log (see Event log)), if the corresponding parameter in the server settings on the "Settings" tab of the "Logging" menu has been enabled (see Setting up the main parameters).
