Contents and system requirements

The server consists of two program modules:
- OnLAN Server (server) and
- OnLAN Monitor (monitor).

The OnLAN Server module supports all the various forms of information exchange between clients and organises connections to the OnLAN Messenger database. The OnLAN Monitor module assists the OnLAN Server module in both automatic and manual modes, by organising server starts and stops, and providing fast restoration of the service after random glitches. Both modules are designed to function in close conjunction with the server's OS.

Both modules should be installed on the same OnLAN Messenger server machine, which corresponds with the local work of the monitor module. Additionally, you can monitor the work of the server from any workstation connected to your organisation's LAN. (see Setting up the OnLAN Monitor module).

The OnLAN Messenger client is represented by the OnLAN Messenger (client) module, which is loaded on all workstations that are connected to the service.

All OnLAN Messenger program modules are designed for Windows (95-XP) OS with the following system requirements: Pentium 200 Mhz (minimum), SVGA (256 colors or higher, 800õ600), mouse; for all client workstations: Internet Browser (Microsoft IExplorer 4.0 or higher).
